Day 0: The night before my life change

Hi friends,

I'm creating this blog to document a personal experiment in health, vitality, and good food.  I have decided to dedicate the month of August to eating completely clean.  This means no processed food, no dairy, no grains, no gluten, no alcohol.  I will eat animal protein (locally grown when possible), vegetables, fruits, and healthy fats.   I like to think that I am not that far away from eating this way now, but the truth is, I'm a lot further than I'd like to be.

My life, like yours, is very hectic. I get lazy.  I put myself at the bottom of a very long to-do list.  I am making a personal and public declaration that I am not going to do this anymore.

I am going to do this experiment, to see how I can change my life in 30 days, just by changing how I feed my body.

I will be documenting my food, my journey, my triumphs, and my failures all here for you to see.

Just for inspiration, in case you are interested, this video (see below) was a tipping point for me.  I really have a problem with sugar, and I think that it does act as a toxin in my body.  So, when Dr. Sanjay Gupta did a show on how toxic sugar is on 60 Minutes, I really listened carefully.  My medical history is complex, and well, precarious, even today.  So, I feel like it is worth one month of my life to experiment and see what happens.
